Our guide for a perfect cup of Matcha.


Matcha tea powder is delicate and asks for mindfulness when making each cup. The more powder you add, the stronger your matcha will taste. You’ll need a matcha scoop (chasen) and whisk (chasaku) for the best matcha at home. Ensure your water is no more than 80 ° to avoid burning the tender powder.

Step 1


Sift 1-2 grams of matcha tea through a strainer, moving the powder back and forth, into your bowl.

Step 2


Pour hot water, not boiling, slowly into the sifted matcha powder. Use 75mls of water for each matcha serve.

Step 3


Whisk the matcha powder and hot water in a rapid zig zag pattern to produce froth. This will allow air to create foam.

Step 4


Lightly break any large bubbles, leaving a consistent and smooth layer. Your Matcha is now ready.
