An introduction to brewing tea.

For many of us, a cup of tea goes beyond the act of simply making and enjoying a tea. It is a habitual routine, based on what can be described as self-care. These well-considered, attentive rituals of brewing tea take time. However, rest assured knowing this time is well spent. Beyond the practical benefits of drinking tea, such as heart health, antioxidants and nourishing herbs, the process can encourage a moment of pause. Dedicating deliberate time to brew tea can underpin all moments of stillness in our chaotic days.

Essential tools:

Small items to make the brewing process easy and effective.

Fresh water:   Use filtered or spring water for the best taste.

Kettle:   An electric or stovetop kettle works well.

Teapot or Infuser:    Depending on your tea type.

Thermometer:    For precise water temperature.

Timer:    To ensure accurate steeping.

Great tea starts with preparation and practice.

1. Measure your tea.

Use one teaspoon of loose-leaf tea per cup of water. Adjust according to your preference for strength.

2. Heat your water properly.
The water temperature varies by tea type. Read the guide below on what type of tea needs what kind of temperature to avoid burning the tea leaves or steeping incorrectly.

3. Pre-warm the teapot:
Rinse your teapot or cup with hot water to maintain the brewing temperature. If you have sensitive cups, this will avoid drastic temperature changes which could break the material

4. Steep the tea:

Pour the hot water over the tea leaves and steep for the recommended time.

5. Strain and serve:

Remove the tea leaves to prevent over-steeping. Pour the tea into your cup and enjoy.
